Each leaf of plates has a facing leaf with descriptive letterpress printed on the recto side only. These letterpress leaves are included in the pagination statement

Several errors occur in the numbering of the plates: plate 5 is misnumbered as 3; plate 6 is misnumbered as 4; plate 23 is misnumbered as 5; and plate 54 is misnumbered as 3

London, v. 26 (1944/45), p. 152-153. Hopwood writes of this work, "Were it not for the fact that Perry introduced a number of new names, the volume would have been forgotten long ago, except as a curiosity."

CHMRB c. 1 [39088009154501] is printed by Howlett and Brimmer, Soho (on t.p.). The t.p. is undated, but the Introduction (p. 4 (2nd group)) is dated Jan. 1, 1811. The text pages have the watermark of H. Smith, 1823; the plates have the watermarks of J. Whatman Turkey Mill, 1826 and 1829

CHMRB c. 1 has accession no. 4062; with penciled note from the bookseller H.B. Quaritch on back free endpaper

CHMRB c. 1 has a later green half-leather binding with brown marbled paper boards and gilt-ruled covers; spine wanting; marbled endpapers; top edge gilt

CHMRB c. 2 [39088009150392] is printed by W. Bulmer and Co. (on t.p.), and J. M'Creery (from colophon). The t.p. is dated 1811. The text leaves have the watermark of H. Smith, 1818; the plates are not watermarked

CHMRB c. 2 has accession no. 11855; also a note penciled on front free endpaper: Robert W. Chambers bequest, 1933

CHMRB c. 2 is bound in later gilt-tooled full red morocco leather; marbled endpapers; all edges gilt

Both CHMRB c. 1 and c. 2 have bookplate: Purchased by the Mary Stuart Book Fund ... Cooper Union Library [the bookplate on c. 1 is dated in pencil May 1926]
